Frazier Law, PLLC, a growing, entrepreneurial business law firm, is seeking an experienced, full-time Civil Litigation Paralegal. The Paralegal will provide substantive litigation support to several attorneys—with particular emphasis on preparing skeleton and other first drafts of filings, ensuring rule compliance, proofreading and formatting, and managing filings in Arizona state and federal courts. This is a true paralegal role for a detail-driven professional who takes pride in getting every document and every filing right the first time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Proofread, format, and finalize pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents so they are polished, internally consistent, and error-free
- Ensure every document complies with applicable court rules and procedures, including formatting, citation, caption, signature, page/word limits, and certificate-of-service requirements
- Prepare templates and initial drafts of pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and related legal documents
- Electronically file documents in Arizona state and federal courts (and in American Arbitration Association (AAA) proceedings), confirming each filing satisfies all procedural and e-filing requirements
- Perform rule-related research and confirm procedural requirements, deadlines, and filing standards
- Organize and manage case files
- Review and summarize client documents and documents obtained through discovery, and assist with discovery projects
- Prepare subpoenas and coordinate service of legal documents
- Assist firm attorneys in scheduling and preparing for meetings, depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and court staff regarding firm matters
- Work collaboratively on other firm-related tasks
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 5 years of experience as a paralegal in an Arizona civil litigation practice environment
- Demonstrated command of Arizona state and federal court rules, electronic filing requirements, and the mechanics of preparing and filing a wide range of legal documents; familiarity with AAA arbitration proceedings a plus
- Exceptional proofreading, formatting, and document-preparation skills, with an eye for detail that catches what others miss
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer proficiency in the use of MS Office (especially advanced Word formatting); document, time, and client management software (ideally Clio); electronic filing; and Westlaw
- High level of attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy
- Superior organizational skills, including proofreading, filing, and calendaring
- Time management skills, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
COMPENSATION
Compensation is negotiable depending on experience, desired work load and compensation structure, and related factors, but total compensation could range from $90,000–$125,000/year for a full-time Paralegal. For full-time Paralegals, the firm pays 100% of health insurance plan premiums.
LOCATION
At present, Frazier Law, PLLC is a virtual law firm that maintains a physical “virtual office” for mailing, meeting room, and related purposes. Accordingly, the Paralegal will be expected to work virtually. If Frazier Law, PLLC does lease or buy office space, it intends to implement a flexible “hybrid” work model for its full-time team members.
