Director Project Management

Role: Director of Program Management – Connected Hardware New Product Development

Location: Houston

Compensation: $175,000 Base Bonus

We are partnering with a leading advanced electronics manufacturer seeking a Director of Program Management to drive end-to-end new product development (NPD) for connected hardware products integrating embedded software, applications, and cloud services.

This is a senior leadership role accountable for delivering complex, multi-disciplinary products that combine physical devices firmware connectivity cloud ecosystems. You will own programs from concept and architecture through validation, launch, and post-market performance.

You will work closely with the VP of Engineering and CTO, setting program strategy, scaling processes, and ensuring high-velocity, high-quality execution across engineering, product, operations, and commercial teams.

This position is best suited to a leader who:

• Built career in electronics, electro-mechanical, IoT, software, cloud or embedded systems
• Managed a team of Project and Program manager
• Has shipped new connected hardware products (not only sustaining engineering)
• Has led hardware project involving cloud platforms, mobile apps, or data services

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership – Connected Hardware & Software

• Lead NPD programs for hardware devices integrated with software and cloud platforms
• Own program delivery from concept to launch using stage-gate/NPI processes
• Coordinate cross-functional engineering across hardware, firmware, software, and cloud
• Drive risk management, change management, and executive reporting
• Build and maintain program roadmaps, resource plans, and financial tracking

Leadership & Team Management

• Manage and grow a team of program and project managers
• Partner strategically with VP Engineering and CTO
• Align stakeholders across Product, Software, Hardware, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Manufacturing
• Lead vendors and external technology partners supporting connected product delivery

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (EE, ME, Computer, Embedded preferred)
• 10 years project/program management leadership across:
• hardware
• firmware
• software
• cloud / connected device ecosystems
• Significant experience bringing new connected hardware products to market
• Proven success with stage-gate / NPI product development processes
