Position Description Non-Exempt
OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB
To perform clerical duties and responsibilities within the department as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB
- Answers telephone and takes messages or transfers calls to appropriate individuals.
- Greets and assists the general public by taking or providing information, receiving payments or directing them to proper locations.
- Opens, sorts and distributes mail within the department.
- Prepares and processes letters, reports, memos, court paperwork and other documents as required.
- Sorts, copies and/or files correspondence and documents within the department.
- Maintains accurate files, statistics, manuals, lists or other department documents as requested and as necessary.
- Operates computer, adding machine, copier and other office equipment as needed to perform essential functions of job, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
- Mails and distributes notifications and other necessary information to carry out departmental needs.
- Calculate simple monthly totals; compile data necessary for completion of reports.
- Updates information to the computer database.
- Assists department staff with preparing court documents, special projects, reports or assignments as requested.
- Attends court proceedings as requested.
OTHER DUTIES OF JOB
- Assists staff with a variety of clerical duties as needed.
- Makes appointments, meeting arrangements as necessary.
- Assists in collecting fees and payments due to the department.
- Attends meetings and/or training sessions as required.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives frequent instructions as to daily work duties required and frequent to occasional supervision from department supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Works indoors in adequate work space, lighting and ventilation, but subject to fluctuations in temperatures.
- Normal exposure to noise and stress, but subject to frequent disruptions.
- Normal indoor exposure to dust/dirt.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess the ability to record, convey and present information, explain procedures and follow instructions.
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods throughout the work day, with intermittent periods of walking and occasional bending, twisting, reaching and stooping as necessary to carry out job duties.
- Dexterity requirements range from simple to coordinated movements of finger/hand; feet/legs; torso as necessary to carry out job duties.
- Light work, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects with weights of fifty (50) pounds, i.e., mail bins, ledgers, etc.
- Must be able to cope with the physical and mental stress of the position.
- Must be able to pay close attention to details and concentrate on work.
QUALIFICATIONS
