The Scientist I, Study Administrator, supports the execution of nonclinical studies by preparing study materials, coordinating sample logistics, and ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with GLP standards.
This role is essential to maintain operational readiness for scheduled procedures in across all animal research studies.
The Scientist I Study Administrator works closely with the Study Coordinator team and performs responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy, organization, and independence.
All procedures will be documented appropriately in accordance with Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 58, which governs the conduct of nonclinical laboratory studies. You will also be trained to capture data electronically in a 21 CFR, Part 58 compliant electronic data management system.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced research environment.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of GED or Associate's degree in lab animal science related field (e.g. biology, pre-med, chemistry, lab animal)
- 1-2 years of direct experience in lab animal science or laboratory setting preferred
Certifications or Licenses:
- AALAS Accreditation required within the first 90 days of hire if personnel only hold
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and agencies (USDA, OLAW, AAALAC).
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to interpret written protocols and apply them accurately to study preparation tasks
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of the Smartsheet program, preferred
- Self-directed individuals with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with limited direction while maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across various disciplines to ensure alignment.
- Ability to use digital communication tools (video conferencing, chat platforms, etc.)
On-Site:
- This position requires full-time availability with at least 3 days required to be on site at the Discovery Labs location
Immunizations and Screenings:
- Participate in occupational health and safety programs, including TB testing and any required immunizations. Adhere to all biosafety, chemical safety, and animal welfare guidelines.
Essential Status:
- Essential for research. You may be required to come in on weekends or holidays to process and transfer samples as needed.
