Position Summary

The Integral Ecology Coordinator advances the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls’ commitment to integral ecology by coordinating education, land‑based initiatives, partnerships, and organizational practices that foster right relationship with all people, the Earth, and all creation. Working collaboratively with Franciscan sisters, associates, staff, and external partners, the Coordinator supports the implementation of the FSLF Land Ethic through programming, stewardship, and advocacy efforts, with particular attention to communities and ecosystems affected by injustice and exclusion. The role serves as a connector between Franciscan values, practical action, and community engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advance Franciscan Integral Ecology and Eco‑Spirituality
  • Integrates lived Franciscan eco‑spirituality into the life and work of the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls (FSLF) by engaging sisters, associates, staff, partners, interns, and volunteers in practices that foster right relationship with all of creation.

  • Cultivate a Culture of Integral Ecology and Sustainability

Fosters a culture of integral ecology—spiritual, material, economic, and social—by promoting environmental sustainability through educational initiatives, community‑building activities, and internal and external communication efforts.Collaborates with and motivates sisters, associates, and staff to advance ecological practices on the St. Francis campus and across affiliate locations. Facilitates and advances the work of key committees, including the Sustainability Committee and Earth Jubilee Committee, in collaboration with committee members.Collaborates with integral ecology interns and volunteers, and engages partner organizations to promote integral ecology values through shared initiatives and coalition work.Leads advocacy efforts by initiating dialogue, reflection, and action with sisters and associates to influence public policy for the common good, particularly on issues related to justice, ecology, and sustainability.Ensures integral ecology initiatives are visible by coordinating content creation for the FSLF website and social media in partnership with the communications office, and by supporting media coverage of advocacy, education, and sustainability efforts.Leads the planning and implementation of integral ecology‑related events, including Earth Day and the Good Friday Peace Walk. Collaborates with others to plan and implement other educational activities such as the Green Fair.Serves as an active member of the Jesus Was an Immigrant Committee and contributes to its initiatives and ongoing work.Prepares and monitors the annual integral ecology budget and, as appropriate, supports efforts to generate funding to further the ministry’s work.Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the ministry by performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

- Two or three years of experience working in social and earth justice required.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

-Demonstrated ability to interact and be inclusive of a variety of audiences with sensitivity to multicultural, ecumenical, interfaith, and non-religious relationships and growing awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion needs.

-Willingness to learn about Franciscan spirituality to serve and support the work.

-Experienced collaborator; able to enroll others in a vision; works effectively with all individuals.

-Demonstrates ability to prioritize work, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, work with interruptions, complete work with minimal supervision, and stay calm under pressure.

-Intermediate level working experience/knowledge of Microsoft Office, (i.e., Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook), Zoom and experience with OneDrive required.

-Good physical, mental and emotional health, and stamina to fulfill responsibilities.

-Available to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree required with studies in ecology or social justice studies preferred.

-Two to three years of experience in a non-profit faith-based setting preferred.

-Experience in or knowledge of eco-spirituality and integral ecology preferred.

-Demonstrated ability to plan and lead/facilitate educational, community building events. Experience speaking, teaching, and workshop leading preferred.

-Knowledge of and experience in working toward a more just society through advocacy—ability to inspire and enlist others in such efforts. Examples could include: lobbying legislators, writing letters, organizing prayer vigils, sending out Action Alerts.

-Experience using social media communication tools preferred.

-Ability to understand Spanish preferred.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week, primarily on-site. Fluctuating schedule. Occasional evenings and weekends.

Travel Requirements

Occasional regional and national travel to conferences or workshops, likely.

Wage and Benefits

Wage offered: $26-29/hour
