Plant Production Supervisor (Automotive Manufacturing)

Position Overview
FR Conversions is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Plant Production Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing operations within our automotive vehicle conversion facility. This role is responsible for supervising production teams across multiple workstations including mechanical installation, electrical integration, interior assembly, and finishing processes associated with second-stage vehicle conversions.
The Plant Production Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in ensuring vehicles move efficiently through the production line while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity. This position requires a strong leader who can motivate teams, resolve production challenges in real time, and drive operational improvements in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, mechanically inclined, and capable of managing both people and processes while maintaining a strong presence on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership & Team Oversight
- Supervise daily production operations across assigned plant departments including vehicle assembly, fabrication, installation, and finishing.
- Lead and motivate production employees to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
- Conduct daily startup meetings to review production targets, safety reminders, and workflow priorities.
- Assign work tasks based on production schedules, employee skill levels, and operational needs.
- Monitor employee performance and productivity throughout the shift to ensure production milestones are achieved.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management support to team members.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of new production employees.
- Partner with HR and leadership to address attendance, conduct, or performance concerns.
- Review production schedules, work orders, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure teams are properly prepared to meet daily output targets.
- Ensure vehicles progress efficiently through the conversion process while minimizing downtime and rework.
- Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, material shortages, or workflow disruptions.
- Coordinate with purchasing, scheduling, engineering, and quality teams to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
- Monitor production metrics and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and throughput.
- Assist with the implementation of process improvements, lean manufacturing initiatives, and plant optimization efforts.
- Ensure proper documentation and tracking of production activities in internal systems.
- Ensure all vehicle conversion work meets FR Conversions’ quality standards and customer specifications.
- Enforce adherence to standard operating procedures, work instructions, and engineering documentation.
- Identify quality issues early in the production process and initiate corrective actions.
- Partner with engineering and quality teams to investigate root causes and prevent recurring defects.
- Verify that final vehicle builds meet required inspection checkpoints before release to the next department.
- Promote and enforce all plant safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA standards and internal safety programs.
- Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and maintained according to 5S standards.
- Participate in incident investigations and support corrective safety actions when needed.
- Encourage employee participation in safety initiatives and near-miss reporting.
- Work closely with the Plant Manager, Operations leadership, Engineering, and HR to support production goals.
- Participate in operational meetings to review production performance and plant initiatives.
- Provide feedback on equipment, workflow, and production processes to support ongoing improvements.
- Support cross-functional coordination between departments to ensure efficient vehicle movement through the plant.

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or college coursework preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or automotive production environments.
- Minimum 2–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a production setting.
- Experience supervising teams in high-volume manufacturing or assembly environments preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with familiarity in automotive assembly, fabrication, or manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with production tracking systems, scheduling tools, or ERP systems preferred.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and maintain strong production performance.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to coach employees, resolve workplace conflicts, and maintain a positive team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to lift 50–100 pounds independently.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a loud, fast-paced manufacturing environment that may not be climate controlled.
