Position Title: Learning Support Center Paraprofessional
Department: Junior High
Reports to: Principal
SUMMARY: Responsible for the daily supervision and mentoring of students in academic and behavior areas assigned to the Learning Support Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
Provide student accommodations based on individual needs to support classroom learning. Small group testing, test reading, and test retake management.
Supervise and mentor students daily in academic and behavioral areas assigned to the Learning Support Center.
Supervise after-school detentions.
Facilitate communication and classwork between teachers and students.
Monitor and maintain the physical condition of the Learning Support Center.
Offer academic assistance to students in the Learning Support Center as needed.
Take and report attendance to Administration for students in the Learning Support Center and after-school detention.
Provide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) through participation in Check-In/Check-Out and other PBIS initiatives to support overall student success.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:20-3:20pm

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree or higher, completed two years of college (60 semester credits). Experience working with students in an educational setting.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
