Four Rivers Charter Public School is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Principal of Culture (APC). Fully credentialed with EL Education, Four Rivers is a college preparatory school grounded in the mission of educating young people for lives of learning and service.
Located in Greenfield, MA, Four Rivers serves approximately 220 students in grades 7–12. Faculty and staff work collaboratively to design meaningful learning experiences and to cultivate a school culture rooted in belonging, challenge, and purpose. Our work is guided by EL Education Core Practices, including cultivating a positive professional culture, supporting students to become leaders of their own learning, and building a strong culture of character.
The Assistant Principal of Culture plays a central role in shaping and sustaining a safe, inclusive, and affirming school environment. This position leads systems that support student behavior, restorative practices, Crew, and schoolwide culture. The APC works closely with the Head of School/Principal and administrative team to ensure all students are known well, supported, and held to high expectations as members of a learning community.

Responsibilities
School Culture and Climate
- Lead and refine systems that foster belonging, respect, and responsibility
- Ground work in EL Education Core Practices related to character and culture
- Coordinate Community Meetings, Polaris Awards, and traditions such as Stepping In and Stepping Up
- Use culture and behavior data to strengthen consistency across the school
- Oversee schoolwide discipline systems across all divisions
- Investigate incidents and communicate with families clearly and respectfully
- Support students in reflection, accountability, and growth
- Lead restorative practices aligned with dignity, belonging, and equity
- Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning on the vision, structure, and implementation of Crew
- Support Crew practices focused on relationships, reflection, goal-setting, and character development
- Coach Crew advisors and monitor effectiveness across divisions
- Develop and support student leadership opportunities
- Lead and facilitate Crew Council as a central student leadership body
- Coordinate student events, clubs, and service learning experiences
- Coach teachers on classroom culture and inclusive practices
- Support new teacher orientation and culture-focused professional development
- Partner with instructional leaders to align culture and academic practices
- Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to facilitate weekly MTSS and SST meetings
- Support development of social-emotional and behavioral interventions
- Ensure alignment between culture systems and tiered supports
- Ensure effective systems for student supervision, safety, and daily operations
- Coordinate trainings related to behavior, safety, and wellness
- Serve as liaison to community partners and support school safety planning
- Respond to administrative needs as determined by the Head of School/Principal
- Supervise counselors, Student Success Coach, Athletic Director, and School Nurse
- Lead and collaborate with teams focused on culture, character, and student support
- Work closely with the Director of Student Services and Director of Teaching and Learning
- Experience working with students in grades 7–12, preferably in a leadership or dean role
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a positive, inclusive school culture
- Experience with student behavior systems and restorative practices
- Strong relationship-building skills with students, families, and staff
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting teachers with classroom culture and management
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racist practices
- Ability to engage in reflective practice and continuous improvement
- Collaborative mindset and flexibility in a dynamic school environment
- Master’s degree in education or related field
- Massachusetts administrative licensure (or eligibility)
- Experience with EL Education, Crew/advisory programs, or project-based learning environments
