What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kitchen and Bakery Production Assistant position at Foundry Bakehouse and Deli?
Join our team to help the bakery in Albion continue to grow! The Foundry Bakehouse & Deli is a seven-year-old business in the historic downtown of Albion, MI. Work with our bakers and other team members to help shape and develop the Foundry into a destination spot for individuals across Michigan. We are searching for an individual with attention to detail and the ability to work independently with direction from fellow team members to support the other team members in a variety of tasks.
Tasks/Responsibilities include:
- Recognize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all stations are operating smoothly and in sync.
- Anticipate team needs and proactively address them (e.g., restocking, assisting during peak times).
- Measure, prepare, and/or portion ingredients accurately for various recipes.
- Roll, cut, and prepare yeast donuts according to established recipes/procedures.
- Work in partnership with bakers and sandwich artist(s) to execute parts of recipes.
- Support the team with prep work for catering, which may include assembling sandwiches, salads, etc.
- Package freshly baked goods and take-and-bake meals with attention to detail.
- Rotate stock and put away deliveries
- Regularly wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
On-the-job training is available and priority will be given to candidates who demonstrate comfort with making items using recipes and individuals with the relative ease with mental math calculations (ex. doubling quantities or halving quantities). Successful candidates will be reliable, demonstrate the ability to manage time and work efficiently, have experience baking and/or cooking, have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to shift priorities dynamically, and/or have previous restaurant experience. Confidence and comfort with different measurements and converting measurements are important for candidates.
