BASIC FUNCTION: The Houseman is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all corridors, vending areas, elevators, landings, and service areas on guest room floors ensuring Hilton’s standards of cleanliness. Provide linen supplies for room attendants and stock floor closets. They shall maintain back of house areas and flooring based on Hilton’s standard of cleanliness. They will also deliver and retrieve items requested by guests.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
- Housekeeping experience desirable.
- Neat, pleasant personality.
- Ability to work on feet for an extended period of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings if necessary.
- Ability to read room numbers, dates, and basic instructions.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness, and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to exert physical effort in transporting linen and supplies to guest room floors from housekeeping and using floor cleaning equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate with Housekeeping Supervisor on work priorities and provide assistance when needed.
- Report any missing articles, damage or mechanical problems to the Supervisor or Manager and turn in articles left in room.
- Respond to guest and management requests and report guest issues and complaints in a hospitable manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Make up cribs and rollaway beds according to specified standard.
- Maintain back of house flooring needs.
- Keep supplies and areas maintained and organized according to the following:
- Restock supplies and needed items in designated closets and storage areas.
- Stock room attendant carts with linen and supplies.
- Maintain designated floors according to hotel’s standards of cleanliness to include:
- General removal of trash and debris from floors.
- Maintain vending areas (sweep, mop, wipe ice machines and doors).
- Maintain service landings and closets.
- Remove debris from elevator and tracks maintaining cleanliness and appearance.
- Dust and clean all furniture in designated areas and floors.
- Dust pictures, frames, mirrors, fire extinguisher boxes, exit signs, air vents and lamps in designated areas.
- Remove dirt, smudges and grease from doors and door frames.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other related duties as requested by supervisors.
- Make improvement recommendations to supervisors.
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor work with hard and carpeted surfaces. Occasional outdoor work. Good ventilation with artificial lighting.
