Job Description
The ESY Teacher provides direct instruction to the assigned students according to the student's Individualized Education Plan.
Hingham ESY programs provide direct instruction to students according to the student's Individualized Education Plan.
Qualifications
- Education: A Master’s Degree or higher in Education, Special Education, Guidance, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in elementary, special education, or secondary content area.
- Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Knowledge of accommodations and modifications to support the implementation of ELA and math curriculum content for students with disabilities.
- Ability to use technology effectively.
- Current knowledge of implementation of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for the age span.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized programming for assigned students as outlined in their IEP goals and objectives.
- Provide direct individual, small group, and/or large group instruction to address students’ IEP goals/objectives. Instruction will focus on reading, math, executive functioning, social skills, and other areas relating to the student's IEP.
- Prepare progress reports as required and communicate with families during the duration of the program.
- Prepare lessons, assignments, and enrichment activities that align with instruction and relate to the student's goals and objectives, and establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected and feel a sense of belonging.
- Collect data to document student progress during the duration of the program.
- Participate in any scheduled professional development.
- Completes other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services.

Program Dates
- The Hingham ESY Summer Program runs from June 29, 2026 to July 30, 2026, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 - 11:30.
- The Hingham Esy RISE Program Summer Program runs from June 29, 2026 to August 13, 2026, Monday through Thursdy from 8:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Compensation
The total rate is $3,452, including the program hours and one hour of paid preparation time each day. A required 2-hour meeting before the program begins will also be held. The position is contingent on the enrollment of students in the program.
Regular ESY Teacher Compensation includes 1 hour per day of paid planning time for each of the days worked at the current HPS contractual rate
RISE ESY Teacher compensation includes additional stipend for the extended days and weeks and also includes one hour of paid planning each of the days worked
