Summary
The Rollback Driver is responsible for the safe and timely pickup, transport, and delivery of vehicles and materials for the U-Pull-It yard. This role plays a key part in supporting yard operations by moving vehicles between customer locations, auction sites, and Foss Recycling facilities. The driver must safely load and secure vehicles using proper equipment and techniques to prevent damage during transport.
This position requires strong attention to safety, the ability to operate a rollback truck in various conditions, and effective use of mirrors when maneuvering loads that may obstruct rear visibility. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced recycling environment while maintaining compliance with all traffic laws and company safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Safely operate a rollback truck to pick up, transport, and deliver vehicles, scrap metal, and other materials in a timely manner.
Load and secure vehicles and materials properly to prevent damage during transport.
Utilize side mirrors and safe driving practices to maneuver oversized vehicles and loads.
Inspect loads to ensure proper balance, securement, and compliance with company safety standards.
Plan efficient routes to minimize travel time and maximize productivity.
Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries while maintaining excellent customer service.
Perform basic vehicle and equipment inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials as needed using appropriate equipment and tools.
Follow all DOT, company, and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Valid North Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record.
Minimum of two (2) years of rollback, towing, flatbed, or similar commercial driving experience; auto recycling industry experience preferred.
Must be able to drive a manual transmission truck.
Ability to safely load, secure, and transport vehicles and materials.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong attention to safety, time management, and customer service.
