Heavy Equipment & Tractor-Trailer Maintenance Working Supervisor

Job Summary: The Maintenance Shop working Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the LaGrange, NC maintenance shop specializing in trucks and heavy equipment. This role ensures that all mechanics and parts staff are supported, workflows are efficient, and equipment is maintained to the highest standards. The Supervisor will work closely with the District Manager of Maintenance to align shop activities with organizational goals, ensuring a safe, productive, and well-coordinated work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of the maintenance shop, including scheduling, task assignments, and workflow coordination.
• Supervise and support a team of mechanics and parts staff, ensuring they have the tools, resources, and training needed to perform their duties effectively.
• Collaborate with the District Manager of Maintenance to develop and implement maintenance schedules, shop policies, and performance goals.
• Monitor repair and maintenance processes to ensure timely completion and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Oversee inventory of parts and supplies, coordinating with parts staff to maintain adequate stock levels and minimize downtime.
• Address and resolve operational challenges, including equipment breakdowns, staffing issues, or resource shortages.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free shop environment.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance logs, and staff performance.
• Provide regular updates and reports to the District Manager of Maintenance on shop productivity, challenges, and needs.
• Foster a positive team culture, promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in truck and heavy equipment maintenance, with at least [5] years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel mechanics, hydraulics, and heavy equipment repair techniques.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and vendors.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and industry standards (OSHA, DOT).
• Proficiency in maintenance management software and basic computer skills preferred.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the shop for extended periods.
• Occasional lifting of up to [60] pounds and working in various weather conditions.

Work Environment: This position is based in the LaGrange, NC maintenance shop environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and heavy equipment. The role requires hands-on oversight and occasional after-hours availability to address emergencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
