Controller – Real Estate Investment Firm

$250,000-$350,000 base salary plus bonus

Forum Group Connecticut is partnering with a well-capitalized private real estate investment firm is seeking an experienced Controller to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the principals, this is a highly visible, partner-facing role with broad oversight across the firm’s accounting and financial operations. The position offers a unique opportunity to operate at the center of a dynamic platform involved in some of the more compelling real estate developments and investment strategies across the United States.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who wants to be deeply embedded in the business, influence decision-making, and build long-term alongside a group that is actively scaling its footprint. The firm moves quickly and is prepared to act decisively for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including property, corporate, and construction accounting across a diverse portfolio
• Oversee internal financial reporting, including timely and accurate delivery of partner-level reporting and insights
• Manage and develop an accounting team, establishing structure, accountability, and scalable processes
• Own and manage banking relationships, including coordination around financing activities, liquidity, and cash management
• Oversee insurance programs and risk management across the portfolio
• Partner closely with the principals on investments, development activity, and strategic initiatives
• Evaluate and enhance internal controls, reporting processes, and systems to support continued growth

Qualifications

• 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong foundation in real estate (development, ownership, or investment environments)
• Deep expertise across property, corporate, and construction accounting
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams while remaining hands-on in execution
• Track record of building and improving accounting processes within a growing platform
• Advanced proficiency in Sage Intacct and Yardi is required
• Long-term mindset, with a desire to grow within a firm and contribute meaningfully to its trajectory
• CPA a plus

Compensation

• Base salary in the $250K–$350K range
• Performance-based bonus
