Fortiva are partnering with a leading Owner’s Representative and construction consultancy to appoint a Cost Manager to support the successful delivery of projects across a diverse portfolio.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, providing hands-on cost management support while ensuring financial control, transparency, and alignment with client objectives.
Position Overview
The Cost Manager will be responsible for delivering core cost management services across active construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, procurement support, and change management.
Working closely with clients, contractors, and project teams, you will play a key role in maintaining financial discipline, improving cost visibility, and identifying opportunities to enhance value and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, and financial updates
- Develop cost plans, estimates, and budget strategies across project stages
- Review and manage change orders and variations in line with client processes
- Validate contractor invoices and ensure accurate coding and processing
- Support procurement activities, including RFP preparation and bid analysis
- Monitor contractor buyout processes and subcontractor engagements
- Attend and contribute to cost and commercial meetings with project stakeholders
- Provide input into value engineering exercises and cost-saving initiatives
- Perform earned value analysis to track project financial performance
- Oversee aspects of project closeout, ensuring contractual compliance
- Collaborate with internal teams and support junior staff where required
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a commercially aware and detail-oriented professional with strong analytical capabilities and a solid foundation in construction cost management.
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in cost management or quantity surveying
- Strong understanding of cost control, procurement, and change management processes
- Experience working within a consultancy, contractor, or client-side environment
- Confident working with Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders
- Previous experience supporting or managing junior staff is advantageous
