Fortiva are partnering with a leading international construction consultancy to appoint an Associate Director / Director to support the delivery of commercial interior renovation and workplace projects across California and adjacent states.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior construction professional to lead a growing team, manage strategic client relationships, and oversee high-profile financial services and corporate workplace programmes across multiple locations.
Position Overview
The Associate Director / Director will be responsible for leading both Project Management and Cost Management functions across a portfolio of commercial interior renovation projects ranging from smaller refurbishment works through to programmes exceeding 300,000 sqft.
Reporting directly into Senior Vice President leadership, the role will oversee an established team of 13 professionals with continued growth planned across the region.
This position requires a commercially focused leader capable of managing client accounts, leading project teams, driving operational performance, and ensuring successful project delivery across multiple concurrent programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop an established PM/CM team across California
- Manage strategic client relationships and executive stakeholder engagement
- Oversee commercial interior renovation and workplace fit-out projects
- Provide leadership across project delivery, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Support cost planning, procurement strategy, and commercial oversight
- Ensure projects remain aligned with programme objectives, timelines, and budgets
- Drive operational improvements and team growth initiatives
- Coordinate with internal leadership teams and external project stakeholders
- Support business development and account expansion opportunities
- Maintain high standards of project execution and client satisfaction
Candidate Profile
- We are seeking an experienced construction professional with strong leadership capability and a background in both Project Management and Cost Management within commercial construction environments.
- Experience leading commercial interior renovation or workplace projects
- Strong client-facing and corporate account management experience
- Background managing projects within financial services, banking, or corporate sectors
- Experience working with major clients such as JP Morgan, Citi Bank, Bank of America, or Morgan Stanley is highly advantageous
- Ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and stakeholders simultaneously
- Strong understanding of project controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
- Previous leadership or team management experience required
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, and commercial management skills
