Overview

Parkwest Bicycle Casino is seeking a reliable Gardener to maintain a clean and appealing landscape.

A Gardener / Groundskeeper Maintenance is responsible for planting, pruning, mowing, and general landscape maintenance to ensure clean, healthy, and visually appealing grounds for our outdoor spaces. 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for grounds maintenance of the Casino areas by maintaining turf and landscaping of company grounds.
• Mows grass, applies fertilizer, applies chemicals for weed and pest control, installs and maintains sprinkler systems, plants and cares for landscaping and turf, and adjusts and makes minor repairs on all maintenance equipment.
• Read work orders or receive instructions from Facilities Manager/Supervisor.
• Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, Forklift vehicle, blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws. 
• Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, seed sowing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls. 
• Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes. 
• Sharpen tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears. 
• Make minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower and spreaders.
• Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.  Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Water lawn and shrubs. 
• Ensures that assigned work area is maintained in a safe condition.
• Must be able to work on-call and overtime when necessary.
• Must be available to work all shifts as needed.
• Assists the Engineering department in miscellaneous projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check and drug test.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Able to deal effectively and interact well with customers and co-workers.
• Able to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
• Available for full time work which may include weekends and evening scheduling; and ready for all programs and activities. Able to work varied shifts and flexible schedules.
• Able to communicate clearly with team members.
• Requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.
• Able to work independently.
• Able to work within a team environment.

Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, or equivalent.

 

Experience: 1-2 years grounds maintenance experience and knowledge of plant cultivation, use of fertilizers, etc.

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry tools, supplies, and inventory up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to perform all essential duties with or without accommodation.
