Overview
Fortis College is seeking energetic and enthusiastic faculty members to teach Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC) in our program. This is a part-time, professional position reporting directly to the HVAC Program Director. The primary responsibility will be to teach HVAC courses.
The typical HVAC teaching load is 1 or 2 courses each term (2 or 4 days per week 8 am to 1 pm, Monday through Thursday; or 2 or 4 evenings per week, 6 pm-11 pm). Applicants will also be expected to provide academic advising to students, assist the program director, and participate in departmental training, meetings, and graduation ceremonies.
Required Experience:
- At least three years of HVAC experience required.
- EPA certification required.
- Criminal Background Check
- Drug Screening
- Commutable to Baton Rouge required.
Skills
- Proficient in HVAC/R principles and practices, with hands-on experience in air conditioning systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform HVAC repair
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to students.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to HVAC installation and maintenance.
