Summary:

The incumbent will perform a variety of tasks, primarily assisting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing
medications, managing inventory, and providing customer service. They also handle administrative duties like
processing insurance claims and maintaining records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collecting prescription details from patients or healthcare professionals.
- Accurately measuring and preparing medications for prescriptions.
- Ensuring medications are properly packaged and labeled for dispensing.
- Ordering, stocking, and maintaining accurate inventory levels of medications.
- Handling insurance claims and processing payments.
- Addressing patient questions and concerns about medications.
- Explaining medication instructions, side effects, and potential interactions.
- Communicating with physicians to clarify prescriptions and ensure accuracy.
- Assisting with insurance forms: Helping patients complete insurance forms.
- Entering patient information and prescription details into computer systems.
- Keeping accurate records of medications, patients, and insurance claims.
- Filing and organizing paperwork related to prescriptions and patient information.
- Updating patient files with new prescription information and health details.
- Ensuring the pharmacy is clean, well-organized, and safe for patients and staff.
- Following pharmacy-specific laws and regulations.
- Helping with other duties as assigned by the pharmacist.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Required: Sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for the
Pharmacy Technician.
- Required: Experience working in tribal, rural or underserved communities preferred.
Education/Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred but not necessary.
- Required: Knowledge and ability to utilize Electronic Health Records.
- Experience must have provided a basic knowledge of:
o Characteristics, strengths, and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals;
o Pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures; and the
o Variety of procedures and techniques involved in the care, storage, repackaging, and distribution of
pharmaceuticals.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred but not necessary.
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Required: Valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under the FMIT insurance plan.
Language Ability:
- Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and residents.
Reasoning Ability:
- Critically evaluate situations where prescriptions are unclear, medications are unavailable, or insurance
- Analyze patient profiles, medication information, and potential interactions to ensure safe and effective
- Make decisions related to medication refills, insurance claims, and other tasks, requiring careful
- Accurately calculate medication dosages based on various factors, such as patient weight and
outcomes.
- Calculate stock levels, track inventory, and order supplies.
- Understand and follow written and verbal instructions from pharmacists and other healthcare
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients to answer questions, address concerns, and ensure
Computer Skills:
- Required: Electronic Health Records (EHR) experience.
- Computer skills with various applications in Office 365, MS Teams, and Zoom.
- The ability to type and use modern office equipment and have experience in using Microsoft products
Requirements:
- Required: Pass the Arizona Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT exam.
- Required: Valid driver’s license and be insurable under the FMIT insurance plan.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- The employee may occasionally be required to move boxes of up to 25 pounds. Normal vision
long periods of time and walk distances as well as stoop, bend, kneel and crouch. Reasonable
