JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Beach Patrol (Temporary) Department: Fort Mojave Tribal Police
Reports To: On-Duty Police Employment Status: Full Time
Supervisor
Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Classification: Sensitive
Supervisory Status: No Salary Minimum: DOE
Driving Classification: Valid Driver’s License
Summary:
The Beach Patrol Officer reports directly to the on-duty Police Supervisor and will be responsible for enforcing
Tribal Beach Rules on Tribal Land.
Beach Patrol Officers must conduct themselves in a proper and ethical manner at all times while on or off duty.
This Department holds its employees to a higher standard of conduct and all employees are required to sign a
Code of Conduct statement and a Code of Ethics Statement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine patrols of the Tribal Beaches.
- Check all persons visiting the Tribal Beaches for a valid beach permit issued by the Tribe.
- Check for unauthorized items on the Tribal Beaches, such as glass of any kind, fires outside of the fire
ring, illegal drugs, marijuana. Will enforce beach rules and notify Police officers if law violations
observed.
- Will be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime and can be on-call 24 hours a day.
- Will perform other duties determined by the Chief of Police.
Qualifications:
- Required: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age at the time the application is submitted to Human
- Required: Be able to operate an off-road vehicles; quad, side by side,etc..
- Required: Able to operate a police radio after given instructions.
- Required: Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Required: Pass a drug test in adherence to Drug Free Workplace of 1988.
- Required: Must submit and pass a background investigation and be fingerprinted.
- Desired: Security guard training..
Education/Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma or GED.
- Required: Must attend in-house training at the Police Department to learn how to operate an Off-Road
- Required: Within two months of hire date, attend and be certified in CPR and AED machine.

Licensure/Certifications:
- Required: Valid driver's license and the ability to be insured under the FMIT insurance plan.
Language Ability:
- Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with management and residents.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to assess situations quickly and calmly while maintaining a professional demeanor, especially
- Apply logical thinking and sound judgment when determining whether to issue a warning, request
- Evaluate and prioritize tasks during patrols, ensuring the most critical issues are addressed promptly
- Identify safety hazards or suspicious behavior and take appropriate preventative or corrective action.
- Interpret and enforce Tribal Beach Rules consistently, using discretion while maintaining fairness and
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and police officers to provide accurate and timely
- Make appropriate decisions when working independently in remote areas, including when to call for
- Understand and follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures related to beach patrol
responsibilities.
Computer Skills:
- The ability to type and use modern office equipment and have experience in using Microsoft products
Requirements:
- Required: Valid driver’s license and be insurable under the FMIT insurance plan.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Tribal Beach Rules and Regulations.
- Strong Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills.

- The employee may occasionally be required to move boxes of up to 50 pounds. Normal vision
