Join our dynamic auto body team as an Autobody Shop Estimator! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for customers seeking collision repairs and vehicle assessments. Your expertise will ensure accurate damage evaluations, detailed estimates, and seamless communication between customers, insurance companies, and our repair technicians. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your automotive knowledge and customer service skills to deliver exceptional service and help vehicles get back on the road quickly and safely. Steady work flow as we are a DRP for multiple large insurance companies.
Duties
- Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to assess repair needs, including auto body repair, mechanical issues, and component replacements
- Prepare detailed estimates for repairs using auto estimating software, ensuring accuracy and transparency for customers and insurance providers
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair procedures, costs, and timelines to foster trust and satisfaction
- Collaborate with technicians and shop managers to prioritize repairs and coordinate workflow efficiently
- Upsell additional services such as alignments, tire services, oil changes, suspension work, brakes, transmissions, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and other automotive repairs when appropriate
- Handle service writing and documentation accurately while maintaining detailed records of all estimates and customer interactions
- Assist with cash handling during payments and ensure all transactions are processed securely
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or auto service management background with a strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and repair processes
- Extensive mechanical knowledge across various vehicle systems including transmissions, suspensions, brakes, air brakes, alignments, tire services, oil changes, shocks & struts, diesel engines, and automotive repair techniques
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Experience in auto estimating software and service writing to produce precise repair estimates
- Ability to upsell additional automotive services confidently while maintaining integrity
- Familiarity with mechanic experience or service technician roles enhances understanding of repair procedures
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in cash handling and documentation processes
