FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER (FOUNDING TEAM) The Forge | Madison, WI ABOUT THE FORGE The Forge is launching in May 2026 as a premier indoor sports and hospitality destination in Madison, WI. THE ROLE Full ownership of food and beverage operations including quality, profitability, menu development, and vendor management. Duties
- Manage daily food and beverage operations across multiple outlets, including casual dining, fine dining, catering, bars, and quick service restaurants
- Lead staff training programs to ensure high standards in food preparation, customer service, safety protocols, and POS system usage such as Aloha POS and Micros POS
- Oversee inventory control processes to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing waste and controlling costs
- Supervise kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth shift management, effective food handling, and superior guest satisfaction
- Implement food safety standards in compliance with local health regulations and industry best practices
- Conduct interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing training of team members to foster a skilled and motivated workforce
- Monitor financial performance through budgeting, cost analysis, and revenue management strategies to maximize profitability
- Handle cash transactions accurately and oversee cash handling procedures during shifts
- Coordinate with culinary staff on food production, menu planning, catering events, banquet setups, and special promotions
- Ensure the seamless operation of bar services including barista experiences or coffee service when applicable
Experience
- Proven management experience in a food service environment with a focus on restaurant or hospitality management
- Extensive background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management within casual dining or fine dining settings
- Hands-on experience with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for order processing and sales tracking
- Demonstrated success in supervising teams, conducting staff training & development programs, and managing shift operations
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling and sanitation
- Experience overseeing inventory control procedures including ordering, stock rotation, and waste reduction
- Background in budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis within the food industry
- Familiarity with catering services or banquet event management is preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on creating memorable guest experiences
- Hospitality or hotel experience is a plus for understanding broader guest service standards
