They are seeking a Loan Review Officer to provide independent assessment and oversight of credit risk across the bank’s loan portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercial credit or banking professional who enjoys analyzing complex credit relationships, identifying potential risks, and providing insight to help strengthen the bank’s overall credit quality and lending practices.
Essential Duties & Functions
- Conduct independent reviews and assessments of the bank’s loan portfolio in accordance with regulatory guidance, Board-approved policies, and industry best practices.
- Lead examinations of credit portfolios and processes, identifying key observations, trends, weaknesses, and emerging risks.
- Evaluate borrower repayment capacity and verify the accuracy of assigned internal credit risk ratings.
- Identify potential credit weaknesses, including deficiencies in underwriting, credit analysis, and credit or collateral documentation.
- Identify credit exposures outside established lending limits, risk appetite, credit policies, or prudent lending standards.
- Evaluate adherence to credit policies, underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and established credit controls.
- Review policy exceptions and assess whether appropriate controls and risk management practices are in place.
- Recommend improvements to credit risk management processes, lending practices, underwriting guidelines, and credit policies.
- Prepare clear and comprehensive reports summarizing findings, portfolio trends, emerging risks, and recommendations.
- Communicate credit risk findings and concerns effectively to executive management and key stakeholders.
- Maintain current knowledge of banking regulations, regulatory guidance, credit risk practices, and industry trends.
- Support the Risk team with special projects and other credit risk initiatives as needed.
- Maintain high ethical and professional standards and comply with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
- 5 years of relevant banking or credit experience.
- Strong commercial credit analysis skills.
- Knowledge of lending, underwriting, risk ratings, and banking regulations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent communication skills with sound independent judgment.
