Duties
- Manage the entire parts inventory lifecycle, including sourcing, ordering, stocking, and replenishment using advanced order management systems.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) suppliers and vendors to ensure reliable supply chains and favorable pricing agreements.
- Oversee procurement processes, including negotiating prices, terms, and delivery schedules to maximize cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate logistics for shipping & receiving, warehouse management, and inventory control to ensure timely availability of parts for service departments.
- Utilize ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems such as AS400 or similar platforms for accurate data entry, inventory tracking, demand planning, and reporting.
- Implement best practices in warehouse management—optimizing storage solutions, managing forklift operations, and maintaining safety standards.
- Support automotive diagnostics and vehicle systems knowledge to accurately source parts needed for repairs or upgrades.
- Lead efforts in demand planning to anticipate parts needs based on service schedules and manufacturing forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with automotive repair standards and dealership policies while maintaining high levels of customer service.
Skills
- Extensive experience in supply chain management within an automotive dealership or manufacturing environment.
- Proven supplier management experience with negotiation skills to secure optimal pricing and terms.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts & accessories management, including sourcing strategies and inventory control techniques.
- Familiarity with logistics inventory management systems such as ERP platforms like AS400 or equivalent.
- Mechanical knowledge related to automotive diagnostics, vehicle systems, auto body repair, HVAC systems, equipment repair, and OEM specifications.
- Warehouse experience including shipping & receiving procedures, forklift operation certification, and warehouse safety protocols.
- Proficiency in procurement management tools such as CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), demand planning software, and order management systems.
- Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping and reporting.
- Customer service orientation combined with strong negotiation skills to foster supplier relationships and enhance dealership operations.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies like Automotive Parts Management software or ERP updates while maintaining operational excellence.
