THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is a privately held CPG company with an established market presence and a portfolio of widely recognized brands. The business is entering a new phase of growth, supported by continued investment in key commercial initiatives.
This is a newly created, high-impact leadership role. The Vice President of Sales will serve as the day-to-day leader of the sales organization and play a critical role in shaping and executing the company’s growth strategy. This individual will be responsible for driving expanded distribution, strengthening customer partnerships, and delivering sustained revenue growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the sales organization across all channels, customers, and broker partners
- Partner with executive leadership to define commercial strategy, team structure, and operating cadence
- Translate company growth objectives into actionable sales strategies and execution plans
- Drive alignment across internal stakeholders to support sales priorities
Customer & Channel Ownership
- Own relationships and negotiations with key national and strategic retail accounts
- Lead annual planning processes and long-term customer strategies
- Expand distribution and strengthen execution across grocery, mass, club, eCommerce, and emerging channels
- Ensure strong collaboration between sales and cross-functional teams
Execution & Performance Management
- Own delivery of revenue, volume, and trade spend targets
- Partner with Marketing and Finance to optimize pricing, promotion, and mix
- Implement disciplined forecasting, pipeline management, and KPI tracking
- Drive consistent execution and accountability across the sales organization
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing sales team
- Establish clear roles, expectations, and performance management processes
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations
- Support go-to-market strategies for innovation and new product launches
- Ensure customer and sales insights inform broader business decisions
IDEAL PROFILE
- 10–15 years of CPG sales experience, with a strong track record in branded food, personal care, or beauty
- Proven leadership of national or multi-channel sales teams managing $100M in revenue
- Deep experience across key accounts (e.g., Walmart, Kroger, Target, Amazon, etc.)
- Strong understanding of trade economics, pricing strategy, and customer P&Ls
- Experience managing and optimizing broker networks
- Demonstrated success in high-growth or transformation environments
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence internally and externally
