A rapidly growing fintech company is building a next-generation prediction market platform in partnership with leading global brokerage and trading firms. This platform is focused on transforming how markets generate insight and forecast real-world events through scalable, market-driven technology.

We are seeking a Sr. Engineering Specialist to help design and build the cloud-based distributed systems powering core exchange, instrument management, settlement, and clearing infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to work on highly scalable, low-latency systems in a collaborative, engineering-first environment solving technically complex problems at scale.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop core distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Build scalable infrastructure supporting:
• instrument management
• settlements
• clearing workflows
• exchange systems
• Develop customer-facing APIs using:
• REST
• WebSocket
• FIX (plus)
• Work closely with Staff Engineers on architecture and technical strategy
• Build fault-tolerant systems leveraging:
• Kafka
• PostgreSQL
• in-memory processing
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in production support and on-call rotations

What We’re Looking For

• 5 years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience building high-performance distributed systems
• Advanced Java expertise, including:
• concurrency
• JVM behavior
• memory management
• performance optimization
• Experience with:
• microservices architecture
• Kafka
• PostgreSQL
• REST APIs
• WebSocket APIs
• Experience building scalable, highly available systems handling:
• high throughput
• low latency
• real-time processing

Nice to Have

• FIX protocol experience
• Financial markets experience
• Futures/options/derivatives knowledge
• Trading systems or exchange infrastructure experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in:

• Computer Science
• Software Engineering
• or related technical discipline preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $150,000–$175,000
• Bonus eligible

• Hybrid schedule: onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Chicago
