Budget Analyst

Key Responsibilities
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
- Review and analyze budget and expenditure reports
- Monitor budgets for variances, surpluses, deficits, and expenditure trends
- Prepare financial analyses, projections, and budget reports
- Assist with Annual Operating Budget (AOB) activities
- Support maintenance of financial data within State financial systems
- Produce expenditure analysis and forecasting reports
- Prepare personal services projections and budget tracking reports
- Prepare monthly reimbursement summary spreadsheets
- Reconcile expenditures against General Ledger reports
- Ensure expenditures are coded correctly to funding sources
- Reconcile deposits with Accounts Receivable records
- Monitor financial compliance with State and Federal regulations
- Maintain financial records from award through closeout
- Support financial reporting and audit readiness activities
- Prepare prior-year open purchase order reports
- Coordinate reconciliation activities with program managers
- Assist with financial closeout and extension activities
- Track financial status updates and expenditure activity
- Support special financial analysis projects as assigned
- Experience in government budgeting, accounting, public sector finance, or closely related financial operations
- Experience with budget monitoring, expenditure analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Experience working within compliance-driven financial environments
- Hands-on experience with TeamWorks Financials and/or PeopleSoft
- Current experience using Workday Financials
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and financial reporting spreadsheets
- Experience supporting state-funded and federally funded financial activities
- Experience reviewing and analyzing financial data for variances, coding accuracy, and expenditure tracking
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or related field
- Fully onsite role located in Marietta, GA
