What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Shop Technician position at FMS Aerospace?
FMS Aerospace is currently seeking a mid-level Machine Shop Technician for our Huntsville office location. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and operation of CNC milling equipment to manufacture our product line. Another essential function for the successful candidate will be supporting the assembly and eventually learning to program all CNC equipment.
Responsibilities
Work with fellow fabrication shop technicians to complete specific manufacturing projects, while learning various fabrication skillsets within a manufacturing setting.
- Receive on-the-job training with seasoned, machine shop employees to gain basic knowledge of manufacturing tools and functions.
- Be able to follow detailed instructions.
- Operate basic hand tools.
- Be able to read shop measuring equipment accurately.
- Learn and assist with all aspects of manufacturing and work way up to programming CNC machines.
- Assembly support functions of equipment racks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, or GED
- 1-3 years’ work experience in a manufacturing setting
- Be able to life, carry, and maneuver 50 pounds
- Ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours
- Be able to work 40 hours per week consistently
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be U.S. citizen
- Must currently possess or be able to receive Department of Defense Secret clearance, if required
Preferred Qualifications
- Be able to operate CNC milling machines
- Operate a forklift
- CAD/CAM experience is a plus
- Read and understand “G” code would be helpful
- DoD or Military experience is a plus
- Technical vocation-related schooling & certifications are a plus
