What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at Flowtec Group?
Qualifications:
- Although a minimum 8 years’ working experience in controls/automation engineering is preferred, candidates with less experience who have a proven track record of the required skills coupled with the right attitude and technical aptitude will be considered.
- A 4-year degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is preferred, but appropriate working experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- Extensive experience designing control panels as a controls engineer/systems integrator is a must.
- Ability to design/create an electrical drawing package using AutoCAD Electrical.
- PLC programming using Allen Bradley RSLogix in addition to any other PLC software.
- Experience with HMI graphics. SCADA design is a plus.
- Experience programming VFD’s and soft starts.
- Experience with industrial networking and interfacing with a multitude of automation products.
- Experience with creating and reviewing submittal documentation.
- Experience with reading bid job specifications and designing control panels per specs.
- Experience with UL 508A and 698A requirements.
- Adequate phone and interpersonal communication skills are critical.
Duties of the position include but are not limited to:
- Managing and taking ownership of projects in which you are assigned, including full design, documentation, support, testing, startup, etc.
- Designing control panels using AutoCAD Electrical, including wiring schematics, panel layouts, field wiring charts, etc.
- Programming PLC’s and designing HMI graphics.
- Testing panels after they are built for proper and expected operation.
- Engineering control panel retrofits and “red-lining” or creating retrofit drawings. This can include, but is not limited to, the following situations:
- Replacing old pump station controllers
- Installing new power monitoring equipment, new pump motor protection equipment, or new telemetry equipment.
- Upgrading direct-on-line starters to soft starts or variable frequency drives.
- Quoting new control panels and/or retrofit jobs (parts and labor).
- Providing controls-related technical support or troubleshooting assistance over the phone to customers, salespeople, or our own field service personnel.
- Creating and reviewing submittals of control systems to ensure they are accurate and complete.
- Providing assistance with programming/commissioning variable frequency drives, soft starts, pump station controllers, or potentially any other type of automation equipment.
- Teaching younger engineers the skills you have developed to help them grow and succeed.
- This position may require 10% travel for manufacturer training or customer site visits.
Salary : $85,000 - $110,000
