Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Nursing to lead our healthcare team with passion, expertise, and strategic insight. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the oversight of the Nursing Staff as well as all nursing related services. The Director of Nursing is also responsible for each client and for linking clients to the physicians and to outside medical resources. They participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Meetings when necessary to inform the clinical team about medical issues and must be available for emergency medical situations. The Director of Nursing provides all services under supervision of the Chief Clinical Officer/Clinical Director. The Director of Nursing is responsible to provide Incidental Medical Services, medical and history screens, providing routine nursing care, and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the client in coordination with the attending physician. They are also a member of the Treatment Team and provide input into the development of the Master Treatment Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Completes the following documentation within 24 hours of the client’s admission to the program: Admission Note, Nursing Assessment, Pre-Screen Testing, Health Questionnaire
  • Supervises and reviews nursing assessments.
  • Supervises Detox, Residential and nursing related matters.
  • Recruits, hires, disciplines all nursing personnel.
  • Ensures that all medications are ordered and delivered to the appropriate level of care.
  • Responsible for the scheduling and covering of shifts of nursing personnel.
  • On-call for medical/nursing related issues after hours.
  • Transcribes Physician’s Orders and Implements all Medical Protocols as ordered.
  • Confers with and assists the Medical Doctor and Psychiatrist.
  • Makes appropriate referrals using referral forms.
  • Attends and participate in all “in-service” functions.
  • Assists with emergency situations and makes immediate referrals.
  • Provides documentation which reflects services for each client in accordance with licensure standards.
  • Maintains the Confidential nature of all clients and facility activities.
  • Maintains required Training and Continuing Education.
  • Maintains Standards of Ethical Conduct.
  • Complies with all Florida Treatment Center Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs any other tasks outlined in accordance with DHCS and Joint Commission Standards.
  • Meets with clients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required.
  • Effectively communicates concerns about client health to the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team and follows up as necessary.
  • Under the supervision of the Program Director, assists in educating clients about health problems and medical care.
  • Facilitates medication education for new clients and for all other clients starting new medications.
  • Meets with counselors to provide information about client medical problems.
  • Assists the treatment ream in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning.
  • Takes verbal orders from the Doctor, documents them in the client record, and carries them out accurately and professionally.
  • Provides routine nursing care under the supervision of the Medical Doctor.
  • Participates in regular meetings with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team to discuss specific client problems.
  • Facilitate Medical Groups as directed by the Program Director.
  • Participate in regular department meetings and staff meetings.
  • Encourages efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste.
  • Maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility.
  • Keeps and shares records and equipment
  • Participates in Performance Improvement, Utilization Review, Fire & Disaster Committees, and others as requested.
  • Attends in-service education programs as assigned to learn new forms, procedures, developmental skills.
  • Has good work habits; gets things done in a timely, efficient manner with no excessive absences, is on time for scheduled shifts, and is prepared to begin work.
  • Functions as a team member and contributes positively to the morale of staff.
  • Performs additional duties, as deemed necessary, by supervisor
  • Maintains up to date training in CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies.
  • Provide IMS Services including the following:
  • Obtain medical histories
  • Monitor client health status to determine whether the health status warrants transfer of the patient in order to receive urgent medical care.
  • Order and review testing associated with detoxification from alcohol or drugs.
  • Providing alcoholism or drug abuse recovery or treatment services.
  • Train staff on overseeing patient self-administered medications.
  • Treat substance abuse disorders, including detoxification
  • Communicates effectively with other staff members and demonstrates the ability to work as a team
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability, responding positively to changing situations in the work setting.
  • Demonstrates objectivity and maturity under stress.
  • Accepts and utilizes supervision.
  • Addresses problems noted by supervisor.
  • Performs other assignments as requested by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates willingness to accept responsibility.
  • Completes all tasks with concern for work quality.

Skills/Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in nursing.
  • A minimum of 4 years experience with chemical dependency and/or dual diagnosed clients, preferably in an out-patient setting.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Florida and maintains current licensure per Florida requirements. Maintains current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards.
  • Knowledge of Detox and Substance Abuse.
  • Strong management skills with experience overseeing staffing and operational workflows.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and academic partners

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
