Florida A&M University's Controller's Office is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Administrative Services vacancy.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for professional accounting work involving the management and reporting of capital assets at the University. The incumbent will oversee the accurate recording, depreciation, and reporting of the university's capital assets in compliance with state and federal regulations; Perform complex accounting tasks related to capital assets, including but not limited to asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals and transfers; Prepare and analyze financial reports, ensuring they comply with applicable standards and regulations; Reconcile capital asset records and ensure accurate representation in financial statements; Assist with the preparation of audit schedules related to capital assets and participate in the audit process; Implement and maintain internal controls over capital assets to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; Collaborate with other departments to enhance asset tracking and reporting procedure.
Maintain accounting records, develop and uphold fiscal policies and procedures, monitor compliance with State and Federal Laws, and recommend systems for operational efficiency enhancement; Provide authoritative guidance on fiscal issues to support the University's financial operations, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives; Assist with the accounting and management of property, ensuring alignment between Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Asset Management modules; Recommend budget revisions based on operational and capital expenditure analyses; Oversee the accurate valuation of assets, including depreciation calculations, lifespan estimations, and property category classifications; Maintain comprehensive accountability for all capital assets (furniture and equipment, buildings, infrastructure, construction-in-progress) to support annual financial statements and SEC disclosure reporting; and, supervise OPS.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years experience; or master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
Recommended Competencies
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards (GASB);
Proficiency with PeopleSoft Financials, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access;
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills;
Effective communication skills, both written and oral; and,
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Pay Plan
This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.
