Registered Nurse

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Florence School District Three. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive health services to students, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being in a school setting. This full-time position requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to fostering a safe and healthy environment for all students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct health assessments and screenings for students, including vision, hearing, and overall health evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students with chronic health conditions or special needs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with school policies.
• Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed, including responding to medical emergencies.
• Educate students, parents, and staff on health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
• Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and healthcare providers to address health concerns and promote student wellness.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Participate in health promotion activities and initiatives within the school community.
• Stay updated on current health trends, regulations, and best practices in school nursing.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance nursing skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will be considered.
• Previous experience in a school setting or pediatric nursing is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
• Knowledge of health education principles and practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Proficient in using electronic health records and other relevant technology.
• CPR and First Aid certification required; additional certifications in school nursing or pediatric care are a plus.
• Commitment to promoting a healthy school environment and advocating for student health needs.
