The Recreation Technician enforces park regulations and policies to ensure a safe and enjoyable visitor experience of Lynches River County Park. Performs duties necessary for maintenance and upkeep of Lynches River County Park.
Essential Functions
- Performs custodial and housekeeping activities of all park facilities to ensure the attractiveness, cleanliness, and safety of the park to meet and exceed established standards.
- Operates a variety of small and large engine equipment, various hand and power tools, and other similar equipment to maintain grounds and landscape.
- Prepares rental facilities for all events. Check-in rental customers and overnight guests.
- Completes park-related forms and reports for statistical purposes.
- Patrols the park to enforce rules and regulations, and to safeguard and preserve park facilities.
- Collects fees, makes changes; completes all related documentation; reconciles and secures funds.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on rotating basis.
- Identifies the need for, and initiates, preventive and routine maintenance on facilities and equipment and records maintenance activity.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
- Requires a high school diploma, or equivalent, and (1) year general maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.
- Must possess, or be able to successfully complete, First Aid and CPR certification upon hire.

- Requires medium to heavy lifting, walking, and standing on uneven terrain, crawling, and working at heights.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, carry, move and lift 50 lb. objects regularly.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must have the ability to travel up to 5%.
