Estimator

Summary/objective 

The Estimator prepares cost estimates by analyzing proposals and requirements.

• Providing excellent customer service while estimating flooring projects by using the provided measuring equipment to create a computer diagram and an accurate materials list. 
• Prepares work for estimation by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• Analyze and identify labor, material, and time requirements for a project.
• Ensure timely completion of estimates.
• Perform project site visits and assist with project coordination.
• Store coverage as needed, which would entail the job duties described under 'salesperson,' and, depending on the store, possibly warehouse duties as well. Refer to the salesperson and warehouse job descriptions for more details.
• Ability to read digital blueprints.

Supervisory responsibilities:       None

Work environment: Retail, store environment, and working in customers' homes.

Physical demands: Position involves the following physical/mental requirements: Normal dexterity with frequent writing and repetitive motions. Frequent use of a data entry device/computer; ability to sit for long periods of time;                                                        occasional pushing, pulling, reaching, grasping, bending, and lifting; good overall vision; reading and close-up work.

Travel required: Will travel to the customer's home location to conduct the estimate, may be required to travel between stores or distribution centers

Required education and experience

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Forklift experience
• Valid driver license
• Must have a great work ethic and excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of the flooring industry is MANDATORY (1 years)
• One to three years of estimating experience
• Analyzing information, planning, and attention to detail

Preferred education and experience

• Knowledge of Rollmaster software
• At least three years of outside sales experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics
