General Manager – Solid Waste Operations
Location: Princeton, KY
The General Manager leads day-to-day solid waste operations across four locations, including hauling, landfill, and transfer station activities. The role is responsible for safety, service, people leadership, and overall performance of approximately 40 routes and 65 employees, working through on-site Operations Managers at each facility.
Key responsibilities
- Lead operations at 2 Hauling sites, 2 Transfer stations, and a landfill
- Direct and develop Operations Managers and frontline leaders; set expectations, coach, and hold the teams accountable for results.
- Drive safe, compliant execution of hauling, transfer, and landfill work, including adherence to DOT and environmental regulations.
- Manage route performance, fleet utilization, and labor efficiency to hit service and cost targets.
- Monitor operating metrics and take action to correct issues impacting safety, service, cost, or customer satisfaction.
- Partner with maintenance, dispatch, and customer-facing teams to minimize downtime and resolve service issues.
Background we’re looking for
- 5 years leading operations in solid waste, transportation, logistics, or similar route-based, asset-heavy environment.
- Experience running multi-site operations and managing through local managers/supervisors.
- Track record improving safety, compliance, and operational performance.
- Comfortable using KPIs and basic financials to run the business.
- Working knowledge of DOT and environmental regulations related to solid waste operations (or the ability to come up the curve quickly).
Salary : $115,000 - $130,000
