What are the responsibilities and job description for the SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) position at FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST?
You will serve as a Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) in the MRO Production Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION, and includes the following: 1) Accomplishing aircraft sheet metal mechanic duties, which include repairs and fabrications on various aircrafts; 2) Performing metal repair, fabrication, planning, laying out, designing, assembling, and dissembling of aircraft and associated components; 3) Utilizing techniques and/or methods to assemble metal systems for assigned aircraft; 4) Utilizing the ability to recognize size bolts, screws, rivets, and all fasteners associated with the aircraft trade; 5) Analyzing and troubleshooting aircraft metal structures and components to determine repairs or replacements; 6) Assisting in the development of solutions for metal fabrication, repair and modification issues; 7) Serving as a technical expert for sheet metal repairs and modifications for aircraft systems and associated components; 8) Reading and interpreting technical drawings, blue prints, and schematics for aircraft sheet metal work; and 9) Assisting in mentoring and training for lower level mechanics and personnel in support of agency goals and objectives.
