Position Overview
The Controller is a key financial leader within the FLASH Family of Companies, partnering closely with the Vice President/CFO and Executive Team to oversee the operations and financial performance of a diverse portfolio of businesses. Our organization includes FLASH, a specialized transportation, logistics, transload, and warehousing company; Texas Frac, a Texas-based sand mining and aggregate operation; a commercial leasing company; and Crossroads Market, an independent grocery store. This unique combination of businesses provides an exceptional opportunity to gain broad financial and operational experience across multiple industries.
The Controller is responsible for leading the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, and the oversight and continuous improvement of the Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Information Technology functions. This role partners with operational leaders to provide meaningful financial insight, improve business performance, support strategic decision-making, and drive continuous improvement while remaining engaged in the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
This position is part of the FLASH Family of Companies' long-term leadership succession plan. The successful candidate will work directly alongside the Vice President/CFO and Executive Team, gaining increasing responsibility and exposure to executive leadership with the opportunity to transition into the Chief Financial Officer role over time.
Position Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Vice President/CFO and Executive Team to monitor the financial performance of all companies within the FLASH Family of Companies.

  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial planning to support the Company's operational and strategic objectives.

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Accounting, Finance, and Information Technology teams, including talent development, performance management, coaching, and succession planning.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics.

  • Support strategic planning by providing financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership.

  • Assume financial oversight for assigned companies or business divisions.

  • Oversee the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions while driving process improvements, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial regulations, and internal policies.

  • Develop, document, and maintain effective financial processes and internal controls.

  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability, reduce costs, and support long-term business growth.

  • Build strong relationships with banks, auditors, tax professionals, and other external business partners.

  • Travel occasionally to company locations as business needs require.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.


Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required; CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.


    7 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience.


    Experience in multi-company or multi-entity accounting environments preferred.


    Experience in manufacturing, transportation, logistics, distribution, retail, or other multi-operational industries preferred.


    Experience managing financial audits, banking relationships, tax professionals, and regulatory compliance preferred.


    Experience with Sage or other enterprise accounting/ERP systems.


    Interest in leveraging technology, automation, and data analytics to improve financial processes and business performance.


    Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams, including multiple direct reports.


    Strong business acumen with the ability to translate financial data into actionable recommendations that support strategic decision-making.


    Proven success leading process improvement initiatives, developing high-performing teams, and supporting organizational growth.


    Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills.


    Ability to balance strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational responsibilities.


    Self-motivated with exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.


    Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with executive leadership, department managers, and external business partners.
