Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for supporting the counseling staff, ensuring client safety, and contributing to a secure and therapeutic environment. This position plays a vital role in assisting clients with their treatment plans and facilitating daily activities in alignment with FLACRA’s mission, vision, and values.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Associate’s Degree in Health or Human Services preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and implement treatment plans in a therapeutic environment.
- Facilitate daily living activities, community meetings, and engagement with clients.
- Assist therapists and counselors in providing therapeutic interventions to help clients develop social, cognitive, and behavioral skills.
- Provide transportation for clients to treatment-related appointments and community activities.
- Liaise with community support systems, agencies, and families to ensure coordinated care.
- Monitor clients for any changes in medical condition, mental status, or behavior and report these changes to supervisors, documenting as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service trainings, and supervision sessions.
- Act as a positive role model for clients, helping them navigate challenges and teaching essential life skills, such as personal care, household chores, and community resources.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly living environment for clients, including light cleaning and organization.
- Complete designated tasks on the overnight checklist, when assigned to evening or overnight shifts.
- Help clients with budgeting, grocery shopping, and meal preparation, depending on their treatment plan.
- Support clients in achieving their personal treatment goals.
- Ensure the safety and security of all clients, staff, and facilities.
- Assist in medication distribution, as needed, in accordance with Part 820 and Part 819 regulations for certain residential facilities (Maxwell Hall, Otte Hall, Cadence Community Residence).
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
