What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wood Finisher position at Fixture Concepts, Inc.?
Responsibilities:
- Prepare wood surfaces for finishing by sanding, filling, and cleaning.
- Mix and apply stains, sealers, paints, lacquers, and other finishes to a variety of wood products.
- Match custom finishes based on samples or customer specifications.
- Inspect finished products for consistency, quality, and adherence to company standards.
- Maintain clean and organized spray booths, finishing areas, and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures when handling chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Collaborate with production team members to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in wood finishing, furniture finishing, or a related field required.
- Strong understanding of finishing techniques and materials, including stains, paints, and topcoats.
- Ability to color match and apply consistent finishes across multiple pieces.
- High attention to detail and quality.
- Familiarity with spray equipment, hand tools, and safety protocols.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and moving of materials and finished products up to 50 lbs.
- Bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching as needed to perform finishes.
- Manual dexterity for sanding, spraying, and detailed finishing work.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely and efficiently.
- Tolerance for exposure to dust, wood particles, noise, and shop environment (most PPE provided).
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug-test as a condition of employment.
Work Schedule:
- Two available shifts: First Shift (6:00am - 2:30pm), Second Shift (2:30pm – 11:00pm)
- Monday through Friday
- Overtime/weekends may be required based on production needs
