Our client, a growing and highly respected medical device product development firm in Houston, Texas, is expanding its engineering team and seeking Test Engineers at multiple levels—from Senior Engineer through Principal Engineer. Both direct hire and contract opportunities are available.
This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated test platforms, automation systems, and verification activities supporting innovative medical devices in a collaborative, engineering-driven environment.
What You'll Do
As a member of the Test Engineering team, you will contribute to the design, development, validation, and implementation of automated test systems used to verify product functionality, performance, reliability, and safety.
Responsibilities may include:
- Developing test requirements, specifications, and procedures
- Designing automated test methods and architectures
- Creating hardware and software requirements for test systems
- Selecting and integrating instrumentation and data acquisition equipment
- Designing electrical and mechanical test system components
- Building and troubleshooting automated test systems
- Performing root cause investigations and failure analysis
- Developing validation protocols and executing verification activities
- Conducting measurement system analysis, GR&R studies, and uncertainty analysis
- Developing calibration and maintenance procedures
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle
- Providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers (Senior/Principal levels)
Desired Background
We are interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Automated test equipment (ATE)
- Test system design and development
- LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, C#, or similar tools
- Instrument control and data acquisition
- Hardware/software integration
- Verification and validation testing
- Electronics, electromechanical systems, or embedded systems
- Medical devices, aerospace, defense, automotive, industrial automation, or other regulated industries
Qualifications
Senior Test Engineer
- BS in Engineering or related technical discipline
- 5 years of automated test engineering experience
- Experience working within structured, requirements-driven development environments
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Principal Test Engineer
- 10 years of advanced test engineering experience
- Proven experience architecting complex automated test systems
- Ability to lead technical efforts and mentor engineering teams
- Experience making high-level technical decisions and driving best practices
Preferred Experience
- Medical device experience
- ISO 13485, IEC, FDA, or other regulated industry standards
- Safety-critical systems
- Active implantable or Class II/III medical devices
- Altium, schematic capture, PCB design
- SolidWorks or mechanical design tools
- System validation, calibration, and metrology
- Design for Test (DFT)
