Position Overview
Our South Bend manufacturing client is seeking a Controller to lead and elevate the company’s accounting operations. The Controller will oversee two direct reports and serve as the primary owner of financial accuracy, internal controls, and month‑end close performance. This role requires a hands‑on leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and can drive measurable improvements across AP/AR and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- The Controller will manage daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Lead, mentor, and develop two direct reports within the accounting team.
- Reduce month‑end close timelines through process optimization, improved controls, and enhanced workflow discipline.
- Ensure timely and accurate AP/AR processing with consistent turnaround expectations.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance standards.
- Partner with leadership to provide clear, accurate financial insights that support operational decision‑making.
- The Controller will collaborate cross‑functionally to streamline accounting processes and improve data integrity.
- Utilize Business Central (experience preferred) to support reporting, automation, and system efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting principles, and internal controls.
- Prior experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Business Central is a plus.
- Proven ability to shorten month‑end close cycles and improve AP/AR turnaround.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing accounting staff.
- The Controller must be comfortable working 100% onsite in South Bend.
