ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support weekly payroll processing, employee records, payroll compliance, and reporting. This position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, organization, and the ability to independently research and resolve payroll-related issues.
- Assist with weekly payroll processing for union and non-union employees, including reviewing timecards, job numbers, pay codes, union assignments, and other payroll data for accuracy.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and assist with payroll adjustments, corrections, and off-cycle payments.
- Review and audit employee payroll records to ensure accuracy, data integrity, and compliance.
- Process and maintain wage garnishments, child support orders, levies, employment verifications, and other payroll-related documentation.
- Monitor, research, and respond to unemployment claims, including gathering payroll and employment records and submitting timely responses.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations.
- Assist with union payroll reporting and related audits.
- Respond to employee and manager payroll questions and research issues to provide accurate information.
- Create, maintain, and organize payroll reports, spreadsheets, SOPs, and electronic employee/payroll files.
- Assist with payroll system data maintenance, audits, process improvements, and special projects.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll, compensation and other sensitive information.
- Perform other payroll and administrative duties as assigned.
- 2 years of payroll, accounting, HR, or related experience preferred.
- Experience with Paylocity or another payroll/HRIS system preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll practices, deductions, garnishments, overtime, and employee records.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
- Ability to meet recurring deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
