Feline Care Specialist (PART TIME)

Our shelter is looking for a motivated individual to join our team at Five Acres Animal Shelter!

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Feline Care Specialist

Reports To: Animal Care Manager

Status: Part Time Employee

Position Summary: The Feline Care Specialist at Five Acres Animal Shelter is responsible for the wellness and care of the animals at the shelter including the completion of daily tasks such as feeding, cleaning, socialization and handling adoptions, as well as fosters. The ideal candidate should have experience with animal care, customer service, and working well within a team.

The work schedule may vary with at least one weekend day, and some holidays will be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Counsel adopters on available pets
• Work with staff and volunteers to ensure animal needs are met, including but not limited to: feeding, watering, enrichment, cleaning/sanitizing animal housing, and administering medications as necessary
• Assist with data entry in ShelterLuv as needed
• Abide by protocols of safe animal handling, disease control and prevention
• Assist with shelter upkeep, including but not limited to laundry, dishes, organizational tasks, etc.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• Customer service experience
• Knowledge of animal body language and its interpretation
• Experience with animal care in the professional setting is preferred

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an animal shelter environment. Exposure to various weather conditions while working can occur. Can lift or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to sustain a full shift of walking, bending and lifting.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
