Director of Housing

Fit Recruiting is seeking a Director of Transitional Housing for a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Mobile, Alabama. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing a transitional housing program serving women and children, with a focus on operations, team leadership, and delivering measurable outcomes that support long-term stability for residents. Salary is in the $65K-$70K range, depending on experience, with benefits.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all aspects of the transitional housing program
• Oversee staff, including case management, support services, and the night team
• Interview and onboard new residents; support ongoing resident success and accountability
• Manage program data, reporting, and compliance (HMIS and grant reporting)
• Develop and track program goals, outcomes, and budget performance
• Coordinate staff schedules, training, and performance evaluations
• Ensure facility operations, maintenance, and security coordination
• Build relationships with community partners and advocate for residents
• Represent the program in the community to raise awareness and support
• Respond to program needs in real time, including being on-call as needed

Requirements:

• Strong leadership experience in program management, social services, or nonprofit operations
• Ability to manage teams, budgets, and program outcomes effectively
• Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
• Organized, proactive, and mission-driven
• Comfortable handling data, reporting, and compliance requirements
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond in urgent situations
