Director of Finance & Administration (Confidential Nonprofit)
Location: Pennington, NJ (Hybrid)
Salary: $95,000 - $105,000
We're partnering with a well-established, mission-driven nonprofit organization in Central New Jersey that is seeking an experienced Director of Finance & Administration to join its senior leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a nonprofit finance professional who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on. The ideal candidate has deep nonprofit accounting experience, understands grant funding, and is comfortable presenting financial information to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
What You'll Do
- Lead all accounting and financial operations, including month-end and year-end close
- Develop and manage the organization's annual budget and ongoing financial forecasts
- Prepare financial statements and present reports to executive leadership and the Board
- Oversee grant accounting, compliance, reporting, and fund management
- Manage cash flow, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
- Coordinate the annual audit, Form 990 preparation, and regulatory compliance
- Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and operational efficiencies
- Supervise a small team, including accounting, HR, and IT personnel
- Partner with leadership on strategic planning and organizational financial sustainability
What We're Looking For
- 7 years of nonprofit accounting and finance experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit coordination
- Significant experience with grant accounting and compliance (this is essential)
- Experience closing the books and owning the full accounting cycle
- Comfortable presenting financial information to a Board of Directors
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience with QuickBooks Online is preferred

Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule
- Initial onsite training, then a minimum of 3 days per week onsite in Pennington, NJ
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $95,000-$105,000 (no flexibility above this range)
