Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, noting changes in condition, and reporting concerns to healthcare professionals or family members promptly.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining proper food safety and cleanliness standards.
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans established by healthcare providers.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of loneliness or isolation, especially for individuals with dementia or memory care needs.
- Follow detailed care plans designed for residents with developmental disabilities, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, or other cognitive impairments.
- Document patient observations accurately and assist with record-keeping related to patient care activities and progress.
- Engage in ongoing training on CPR, first aid, hospice care practices, and other relevant certifications to ensure the highest standards of safety and care.
Skills
- Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home health agencies, or group homes with a focus on senior or disability care.
- Strong understanding of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information at all times.
- Ability to assist with ADLs using proper techniques for heavy lifting and transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts.
- Familiarity with dementia care strategies, Alzheimer’s care protocols, memory care techniques, and hospice support practices.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents’ families, and other caregivers.
- Capable of working independently while maintaining attention to detail in documenting patient progress.
- Physical stamina for long shifts involving standing, walking, bending, lifting heavy objects safely, and providing hands-on support.
