What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Nursery Worker position at First United Methodist Church?
The nursery staff is a part time position, working primarily on Sunday mornings, some Wednesday evenings with additional church wide events and committee meetings scheduled throughout the year. The nursery staff is expected to provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to children while at First United Methodist Church Longview. The nursery staff must be able to bend, stoop, get up and down from the floor, and lift infants and toddlers of varying weights. The staff member must be observant, able to follow directions, and have flexibility to adjust the work schedule to the needs of the church.
Specific Work Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which may include: feeding, changing diapers, escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer.
- Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.
- Stay until the children are secured with a responsible parent/guardian.
- Straighten the room and clean any toys before leaving.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check.
