Position Title: Accounting Analyst I (2 Openings)
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $50,000–$57,000 annually
Onsite/Hybrid: Onsite for the first 90 days (5 days/week), hybrid eligibility thereafter (3 days onsite, 2 days remote). Note: Blackout period during month-end close.
Position Overview
The Accounting Analyst I plays a critical role in supporting corporate accounting operations with a strong focus on invoice processing, budget preparation, financial analysis, month-end close activities, and subledger accuracy. This position requires strong foundational accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume workflows during critical close periods.
Analysts in this role manage shared inbox processing, prepare supporting files for leadership review, and perform reconciliation and analytical tasks across multiple business units. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, is accountable, and demonstrates the ability to operate as a “plug-and-play” contributor with minimal ramp-up time.
This team offers a defined path for growth, progressing from Analyst I through Analyst IV, then into lead, supervisor, and manager roles.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice Processing & Accounts Payable Support
- Accurately code and process invoices in a timely manner.
- Reconcile invoices against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor correspondence, including timely payment within vendor terms.
- Ensure proper sales/use tax application or accruals.
- Review purchase order coding and confirm correct accounting treatment including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other classifications.
Month-End Close & General Accounting
- Prepare and post month-end accrual entries.
- Perform intercompany journal entries between business units (DSC and Dealerships or equivalent).
- Support daily and day-two close requirements, including heavy posting activity.
- Maintain prepayment schedules, balance sheet schedules, subledger postings, and account reconciliations.
- Execute variance analysis, month-end true-ups, and forecasting support.
- Assist with monthly budget review, preparation, and routing for approval.
Financial Analysis & Data Preparation
- Prepare data packages and supporting schedules for leadership review.
- Work with FP&A to ensure accuracy of new payments, coding, and budget postings.
- Conduct store-to-store or entity-to-entity reconciliations, particularly around advertising and consolidated expenses.
- Manage recurring payment logs and ensure completeness of monthly obligations.
- Support consolidated reporting and geo-reconciliations across corporate levels.
Operational Support
- Manage shared accounting inboxes and ensure prompt and accurate communication.
- Provide mentorship and support to more junior analysts when applicable.
- Perform other related duties aligned with departmental goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, with direct exposure to accounts payable and general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accruals, subledgers, and balance sheet structure.
- Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and variance analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare data for executive-level review.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable partnering with accounting managers and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle high-volume workloads and meet tight deadlines, particularly during close cycles.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience with prepaid schedules, budget posting, and advertising expense reconciliations.
- Experience supporting IT, insurance, or other departmental accruals.
- Prior involvement in preparing accounting schedules and supporting audit or leadership reviews.
