Position Overview
As a Senior Geotechnical Field Engineer, you will provide full-time on-site support for earthworks activities, ensuring construction aligns with design intent, safety standards, and project requirements. You’ll work closely with engineering, construction, and project management teams, contributing both technical expertise and field insight.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support on-site earthworks operations, ensuring compliance with engineering designs and specifications
- Provide technical guidance for soil and rock excavation activities
- Interpret and implement construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical requirements in the field
- Support geotechnical investigations and contribute to field execution strategies
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and documentation
- Evaluate vendor submittals and integrate findings into project solutions
- Monitor scope, schedule, and progress to ensure timely, high-quality delivery
- Collaborate with civil, structural, construction, and safety teams to drive coordinated project execution
What You Bring
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field
- 11 years of progressive experience, including significant field involvement
- Strong background in earthworks, including cold-weather construction practices
- Expertise in subsurface investigations, foundation design, and slope stability analysis
- Experience working on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., Slope/W, PLAXIS) and standard engineering tools
- Solid understanding of applicable codes, standards, and industry practices
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced field environment and manage competing priorities
Nice to Have
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or equivalent
- Advanced experience in geotechnical modeling and analysis
- Background in complex earthworks design and construction
