Cost Accountant
📍 Davis, California (Hybrid Schedule: 3 Days Onsite / 2 Remote after 90 Days)

We are seeking a detail-driven Cost Accountant to play a critical role in analyzing manufacturing costs, improving financial accuracy, and supporting strategic decision-making across operations.
Looking for someone who has hands-on experience building cost accounting structures and can clearly explain the full cycle of cost accounting procedures.
What You’ll Do
As a key member of the accounting team, you’ll bring visibility and control to complex manufacturing cost structures while partnering closely with production and operations.
Cost Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs, variances, and profitability trends
- Deliver actionable insights to leadership through financial reporting and cost studies
- Perform material, freight, and machine cost analysis to improve cost transparency
Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting
- Manage and reconcile raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory
- Support and participate in physical inventory processes
- Determine accurate inventory valuations aligned with monthly close deadlines
Month-End Close & Financial Accuracy
- Execute month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting standards
- Analyze and resolve discrepancies between production data and inventory counts
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Develop and enhance workflows for purchasing, inventory, and cost accounting processes
- Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives (including internal controls frameworks)
- Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting quality
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Production, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams to ensure data accuracy
- Advise operations on inventory counting procedures and system usage
- Coordinate with vendors and support select accounts payable activities
What You Bring
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost structures, and variance analysis
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Baan preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
